LAND OF MILK AND HONEY, OR WHAT IT ONCE WAS

This two-day final Federal Vocational Baccalaureate project on the theme "Schlaraffenland, oder was es einst war" ("Land of Milk and Honey, or what once was") uses the lumen print technique (photogram) to highlight food waste in Switzerland.
Green waste, including whole fruits and vegetables, was exposed to sunlight on untreated photographic paper, creating unique photograms that reflect the shapes and inner structures of the waste.

The entire collection of images was digitized, and Photoshop was used to fully enhance the potential of the lumen prints. Through this process, new images emerged with richer colors, greater depth, and stronger contrasts. The freshly edited images, along with the unretouched ones, were carefully arranged in a graphic format similar in size to A3. As a final step, the physical lumen prints developed in the photo lab were placed on top of the printed unretouched images, resulting in the final product—a large, magazine-like publication that seamlessly combines graphic and analog imagery for an immersive browsing experience.

The project aims to raise awareness about the 2.6 million tons of food lost annually in Switzerland, urging society to rethink its consumption habits and minimize waste.
