FOR THE CHANGE

This is a glimpse into an archive of research on the Black Lives Matter movement and lumen prints—photograms that create scan-like images through the exposure of objects and photography paper under the sun. This A4 format magazine was created for an art school thesis in 2019/2020. The collection explores themes of identity, unity, and social justice through the visual metaphor of flowers.

Flowers are celebrated for their beautiful colors, with each bloom appearing unique in shape and hue, much like people. Yet, after undergoing the lumen print process, they emerge in similar worlds of color and aesthetic. Their underlying tones, brought out by the sun we all live under, reveal a shared visual language, demonstrating that despite external differences, there exists a deeper connection that unites them.

Just as flowers transform under light exposure, losing their original hues but revealing a new essence, people are shaped by their experiences. Though each journey is unique, the imprints left behind create shared patterns—subtle yet deeply connected. This work stands as a reflection on individuality, collective identity, and the ongoing pursuit of change.
